World Cup: Super Falcons will surpass previous achievements – Captain Ebi

Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi has once again reiterated the team’s desire to put up a respectable outing at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The nine-time African champions are among the 32 teams that will compete for honours at the quadrennial competition that will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

Randy Waldrum’s side will face Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland in Group B.

The Super Falcons made it to the Round of 16 four years ago in France where they were eliminated by Germany.

Ebi, who will be making her sixth appearance at the World Cup, is confident the West Africans will surpass their previous achievement in the competition.

“I want to tell Nigerians that we are going to Australia, not just to participate, but to surpass our record in the last outing. I believe we will make Nigerians proud,” the 40-year-old said at the farewell dinner organised for the meeting in Abuja on Saturday night.

The Super Falcons are expected to jet out to Melbourne, Australia on Sunday (today) for a 15-day training tour.

The competition will run from July 20 to August 20.
