Probe, don’t reward former governors – Shehu Sani tells Tinubu

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has charged President Bola Tinubu to probe former governors, ministers, and the so-called cabals of the immediate past administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

Sani said the former political officeholders should be called to account instead of rewarding them with appointments in Tinubu’s government.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Sani opined that it would be most unconscionable to reward or appoint into office former governors whom he alleged of looting their states and leaving people in poverty and debt.

Making references to the former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, Sani maintained that the duo is in detention while the erstwhile political officeholders are yet to be called to account.

Tinubu’s failure to call them to account, he noted, does not send a good signal about a new dawn.

His words: “It will be most unconscionable to think of rewarding or appointing former Governors who looted their states and left their people in poverty and debt into office.

“Two people in detention while the members of the defunct cabal, ex ministers and ex Governors are not called to account doesn’t send a good signal about a new dawn.”

There are speculations that Tinubu would present his list of ministerial nominees to the National Assembly soon.

The list, it was rumoured, comprises names of past governors and former officeholders
