The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has called for a nationwide protest against the recent upward review of the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also called petrol.
The call was sequel to the abrupt increase in the fuel price from N537 to N620 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and other parts of the nation.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the President General of COSEYL, Goodluck Ibem, described the development as wickedness from the authorities, citing the present hardship imposed on Nigerians due to the fuel subsidy removal.
The group lamented that when Nigerians are “still battling with hardship to settle with the previous price of N520, President Tinubu within 2 months in office increased the same price of fuel to N617” as it is in some states.
The statement called on all Nigerians, especially the youths, to “come out enmasse for a protest against this evil and wickedness brought upon Nigerians by the present government. Nigerians can no longer breathe again in their own country.
“The time to liberate Nigeria from her oppressors is now. We must march on the streets of the 36 states of Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja until the fuel price is reversed to its old price of N198 per litre”.
