Ben Murray-Bruce, former senator representing Bayelsa East,
says President Bola Tinubu is making “the right calls”.
In a post via his Twitter page, the ex-lawmaker said
Nigerians should watch out for Tinubu’s administration.
“President Bola Tinubu is making the right calls. He turned
Lagos into the 6th largest economy in Africa, and now he is in charge of the
largest economy in Africa. Watch out,” Murray-Bruce tweeted.
Following his victory at the polls, Tinubu reiterated his
commitment to making Nigeria better.
In his inaugural speech, the president declared the petrol
subsidy regime over, adding that his administration would unify the foreign
exchange markets.
The petrol subsidy removal led to a hike in the pump price
of the product across the country.
As a result, organised labour asked workers to embark on
strike but the planned strike was suspended after meetings with the federal
government delegation.
The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) also suspended its
industrial action following the intervention of Tinubu.
The president also intervened in the tussle between the
Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC).
Recall that NigerianEye had reported how DSS operatives
prevented EFCC officials from accessing their Ikoyi office in Lagos state.
Tinubu had asked the DSS to vacate the EFCC office
immediately, saying the agencies would resolve the issues between them
amicably.
On Thursday, Tinubu signed the bill on uniform retirement
age for judicial officers.
The law extends the retirement age of high court judges —
and others — from 65 to 70 years.
The president also signed the electricity bill into law,
thereby empowering states, companies and
individuals to generate, transmit and distribute electricity.
Tinubu said the devolution of power in the power sector is
his administration’s “contribution to developmental projects”.
