Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, was a guest as
his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, celebrated his 60th birthday on Wednesday.
Ambode, governor of Lagos from 2015 to 2019, was said to
have hosted a private ceremony at his residence to commemorate his diamond
jubilee.
The governor had earlier taken to social media to celebrate
Ambode and hail his “positive and significant impacts in some sectors” during
his tenure.
Since the return of democracy in 1999, Ambode is the first
governor of Lagos to serve just one term.
In 2018, Ambode spoke against the governorship ambition of
Sanwo-Olu ahead of the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
in Lagos.
Ambode lost the primary election after reportedly falling
out with President Bola Tinubu who is regarded as the godfather of Lagos
politics.
Here are photos from the birthday celebration.
