AS Roma head coach, Jose Mourinho has risked a UEFA ban and fine after confronting the Europa League officials in the stadium car park, branding them “f***ing crooks” following his team’s Europa League defeat to Sevilla on penalties after the match had ended in a 1-1 draw.
Mourinho’s men took the lead in the Europa League final against Sevilla at the Puskas Arena football stadium in Budapest, Hungary, on Wednesday night through Paulo Dybala.
But the Serie A side was pegged back at the start of the second half by an own goal from Gianluca Mancini, with the game going to extra time and then penalties.
Sevilla goalkeeper, Bono saved two spot-kicks before Argentina’s World Cup winner Gonzalo Montiel dispatched the winning penalty after a dramatic retake.
The match was a very scrappy and bad-tempered affair, with 13 yellow cards dished out by referee Anthony Taylor.
However, after Sevilla had lifted the trophy, Mourinho waited around to confront Taylor and his refereeing team – which also included Michael Oliver at the car park at the Puskas Arena.
“It is a f***ing disgrace, man. It is a f***ing disgrace, man,” Mourinho said before briefly switching to the Italian to continue his tirade.
“Even [UEFA Referees’ Committee chairman Roberto] Rosetti said it was not a penalty,” Mourinho said in Italian, referring to the overturned spot-kick on Ocampos, which referee Taylor reversed after checking the VAR monitor.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager added, “F*** off, man. F***ing crooks, man. Congratulations, f***ing scandalous.”
At the beginning of the clip, captured by Sportitalia, a Roma official tries to escort Mourinho away, but the Portuguese spend a full minute sounding off before finally walking over to the Roma team bus with goalkeeper coach, Nuno Santos.
