Serie A giants, AC Milan remain keen on signing Samuel Chukwueze this summer, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The Rooseneri are in the market for a right-sided winger and see the Nigerian as a suitable alternative.
Chukwueze has one-year left on his contract with Villarreal and is not willing to sign an extension.
Villarreal are ready to allow him leave but his massive buyout clause could be a stumbling block except they reach a compromise with AC Milan on the transfer fee.
Premier League clubs, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have also been credited with interest in the 24-year-old.
The winger scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists for Villarreal in the 2022/23 season.
