The speakership election has taken a curious twist.
Another member-elect of the House of Representatives, Sani
Jaji, has been nominated to run for Speaker in the 10th National Assembly.
Ahmed Yusuf Ibrahim from Katsina State nominated Jaji from
Zamfara State.
Normally, two candidates are usually nominated for the position.
Jaji accepted the nomination, saying he was out to defend
democracy.
The outgoing Deputy Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase, had earlier been nominated to run for Speaker, which he accepted.
The choice candidate of the All Progressives Congress,
Tajudeen Abbas, will contest against two other aspirants, Wase and Jaji.
