Senate Presidency: Ali Ndume reveals sum of money being shared for vote buying

The lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ali Ndume, has provided insight on the sum of money shared by Senate President aspirants to senators-elect.

The lawmaker, who is one of longest serving members of the red chamber, said some aspirants boast of their capabilities to share as much as $200,000 to fellow members to buy their votes.

Speaking on Arise TV, the lawmaker was asked about the sum of money being shared to senators-elect to buy their votes ahead of the 10th Senate leadership election.

“I’ve said it several times that the unfortunate thing that is happening is that the other candidates are talking about money.

“The only qualification that they are displaying is the amount of money that they tell Senators-elect that they can give them.

“People are talking about figures, but nobody has approached me. Some are talking about 10, 20, 30, 40 and even more than that.

“Some are even boasting that they will give every Senator up to $200,000. Figures are flying. That is the truth. That is honestly very unfortunate,” he said.

  1. Expect the worst to come. Tinubu is just going to mess up this country. We have had rats, pythons, monkeys carry & swallow money. We are getting debit alert knocks of paying judgement debts just at the last count and nobody is asking questions. We await what Tinubu and his co-travellers are coming with. We alone can save ourselves.
