The Minister of Water Resources, Sulaiman Adamu, has
dismissed speculations that the incoming administration of the President-elect,
Bola Tinubu, will not continue the multi-billion naira projects of President
Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Adamu spoke against the backdrop that Buhari’s
administration would continue working until May 29, when Tinubu would be
inaugurated into office.
Speaking after yesterday’s Federal Executive Council
meeting, the minister said some contracts might not be completed by the
Buhari’s administration.
Responding to questions on pending contracts, Adamu said
government is a continuum; hence pending contracts would be passed to Tinubu’s
administration.
According to Adamu: “Government must continue to function
regardless of elections.
“We do not control the process, but when it is completed,
and we are still in office, we are duty-bound to bring these memos to Council
for Council to approve. Government is a continuum. There are still a lot of
memos.
“I can assure you a lot of contracts will not see the light
of day in the next one week or two. And for those, we do not have any option
but to let the process continue. And then for the next government to come and
continue.”
