President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed his reaction when
ex-President Goodluck Jonathan telephoned him after the 2015 election.
Buhari spoke on Friday at a farewell meeting with his media
support group, the Buhari Media Organization (BMO)
The Nigerian leader called on citizens to walk on the path
of duty “if we really want to see the country achieve new heights”.
On the phone conversation with his predecessor, he said
Jonathan “called at 5:25pm that evening to say congratulations”.
“I said pardon me Mr. President? He said yes, I called to
concede and congratulate you. That was equally very un-Nigerian.”
Buhari also recalled the countries he had been to on
military training, citing a particular one where people died of hunger overnight.
The President described Nigeria as a lucky nation given the
natural resources available to it and its vast population.

Jonathan will always be relevant in Nigeria for that singular act of patriotism. He saved Nigerians from blood street riot and violence that could HV erupted if he insisted on using his power as d incumbent president. That is highest level of humility and patriotism.
ReplyDeletePeter Obi has lesson to learn from Jonathan, moreso that he still has a bright future in Nigeria politics.
