The Lagos State Magistrates Court sitting in Yaba has adjourned the trial of popular Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, to Wednesday.
The trial, which was slated for Tuesday, May 23, was adjourned as a result of the judge, Justice Adeola Olatubosun’s absence from the court without any official reason.
Confirming the adjournment, one of the singer’s lawyers, who stated that the case had been adjourned till Wednesday, May 24, disclosed that some lawyers had followed the police to Panti for the release of their client as the four additional days of remand granted by the court expired today.
Kuti is charged with assaulting a police officer which he allegedly committed on May 13 on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos State.
