We’ll give land to Indian investors looking to build film cities in Abuja, Lagos -FG

 


The federal government has offered land to Indian investors looking to build film cities in Nigeria.

 

NAN reports that Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, spoke on Tuesday in Abuja.

 

He was receiving Shri Balasubramanian, the Indian high commissioner to Nigeria.

 

Lai said the government will offer land to Indians interested in building film cities in Lagos and Abuja.

 

He said the idea is to boost job creation and increase collaboration between both countries in the creative sector.

 

“We are ready to welcome Indian investors into Nigeria. We will offer them land in both Abuja and Lagos to build comprehensive film cities in the two cities so that we can boost the economy of our creative industry,” Lai said.

 

“We are open to collaborations between Nigeria and India in the area of creative industry.”

 

Lai Mohammed said Nigeria is ready to take advantage of opportunities available in the creative industry.

 

He pointed out that India has been one of Nigeria’s biggest partners in trading and commerce.

 

He added that bilateral relations between Nigeria and India date back to 1958 and it has been very cordial.

 

The minister said India would be a strategic creative sector partner due to its sprawling movie industry, Bollywood.

 

In 2020, Nigerian and Indian actors teamed up to produce some joint titles including the film ‘Namaste Wahala’.
