The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is yet to zone
the 10th national assembly leadership positions.
The ruling party was reacting to reports of the purported
zoning arrangements making rounds on social media.
In a statement on Thursday, Felix Morka, spokesperson of the
APC, said the information circulated on social media should be disregarded
because it did not emanate from the party.
Morka said APC would communicate the decision it has taken
on the leadership positions in the national assembly.
“The attention of the
All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to versions of zoning arrangements
for the 10th National Assembly leadership positions in circulation in sections
of social media,” he said.
“The information did not emanate from the party and should
be disregarded.
“To be clear, the party has yet to zone positions of
leadership of the 10th national assembly. Any decisions made in that regard
will be duly communicated via the party’s official information channels.”
Shortly after the general election, Abdullahi Adamu,
national chairman, had said the national working committee (NWC) of the party
would work with Bola Tinubu, president-elect, to produce a zoning formula.
However, the party has not decided on how it wants to zone
the positions.
