The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized
126 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis.
The consignment found at the Tincan port in Lagos, weighing
63kg were concealed in a Toyota Corolla car imported from Toronto, Canada.
A statement on Sunday by NDLEA Media Director, Femi Babafemi
also announced the arrest of a freight agent, Mordi Chukwuemeka Samuel.
Samuel was attempting to export 900 grams of the Loud hidden inside a travelling bag containing food items to Kenya.
The suspect was thwarted by operatives at the SAHCO export
shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on April 29.
On April 27, Directorate of Operations and Investigation
(DOGI) officers attached to courier firms found 1.53kg skunk kept in old hard
drives meant for export to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In Benue, operatives recovered 859 bottles of Codeine-based
syrup weighing 117.3kg abandoned by a suspected dealer near NDLEA checkpoint
along Enugu – Otukpo road.
However, Kabiru Muhammed, 35, and Isah Muhammed, 28, were
caught with 20 blocks of cannabis weighing 11.2kg concealed in a bag of garri
along Zaria – Kano road on April 28.
In Ondo, seven bags of cannabis with a gross weight of
74.5kg were recovered when operatives raided an uncompleted building located in
a bush in Ala town, Akure.
Similarly, 60kg of the same substance, hidden among
footwears in two sacks, was recovered along Ibadan – Oyo road from one Aminu
Mohammed waiting to board a vehicle to Kebbi.
In Adamawa, NDLEA agents raided a clandestine factory in
Mubi, where Akuskura was being produced in large quantity.
The new psychoactive substance was to be exported to
neighbouring countries, Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic.
