Some officials of the Parliamentary Staff Association of
Nigeria (PASAN) in the national assembly have appeared before the force
criminal investigation department (FCID) over alleged N500 million fraud.
The affected officials are Sunday Sabiyi, chairman of PASAN;
Stacy Nwodo, the financial secretary; and Samtiya Daniel, treasurer.
It is understood that they were invited to appear before the
police on Wednesday over their alleged inability to account for some of the
association’s funds.
The police invitation was sequel to a petition written
against the officials by some suspended officials of PASAN, national assembly
chapter.
Amos Enobong, assistant public relations officer of PASAN,
national assembly branch, confirmed the development in a notice sent to PASAN
members on Thursday.
According to the notice, the officials were granted
administrative bail on self-recognition and asked to report back on April 4 for
further questioning.
“This is a result of a petition filed by a group of 9
suspended PASAN former excos (G9) members over what they termed, ‘Financial
Misappropriation’ by Current Excos of PASAN, to the Force CID, Abuja,” the
notice reads.
“After interrogations
and other processes were carried out, the union executives were granted
adminstrative bail, on self-recognition, and to report back on Tuesday, 4th
April, 2023, for further questioning.
“The union hereby assures her members that there is no cause
for alarm as the situation is being handled by those concerned.
“You are to remain calm until further notice from the union.
The union is not deterred but poised to defend itself to ensure accountability
and discipline within its ranks.”
