Uba Sani, Kaduna governor-elect, says he will challenge some
results gathered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18
governorship election in the state.
Speaking with BBC Hausa, the governor-elect said the PDP won
some LGAs with “unimaginable margins”.
Sani, who contested the election on the platform of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), polled 730,002 votes to defeat Isa Ashiru of the
PDP, who secured 719,196 votes.
The PDP candidate won 13 LGAs in the state while Sani won 10
LGAs.
He said the election in the LGAs where the PDP won was
fraught with irregularities.
Sani said he would challenge the PDP results at the election
petition tribunal, noting that the margin of his victory surpassed what was
declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
While extending an olive branch to the opposition parties,
the governor-elect said his administration would be “fair” to all including,
those who did not vote for him.
He said he was happy with the number of voters turnout
during the election.
The governor-elect expressed confidence that he would be “victorious” at the election petition tribunal where the PDP has promised to challenge his victory.
