Buhari swears in ex-IGP Solomon Arase as PSC chair

 



President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Solomon Arase as the chairperson of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

 

Arase, a former inspector-general of police, was sworn in on Wednesday.

 

He took his oath of office at the council chamber of the presidential villa during the federal executive council meeting.

 

Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation; Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to the president, and other FEC members were present at the swearing in ceremony.

 

Thee senate confirmed Arase as the head of PSC in January.

 

The 65-year-old retired from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 2016 after serving as the 18th IGP.

 

The president also swore in five board members of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) during the FEC meeting.

 

They include Murtala Kankia from Katsina state (north-west); Zephaniah Bulus from Nasarawa state (north-central) and Farouk Umar from Yobe State (north-east), Taofeek Abdulsalam from Ondo state (south-west) and Juwaria Badamasi from Kogi state (north-central).
