The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has
declared Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the Lagos governorship election.
Sanwo-Olu was announced the winner of the election at a few
minutes past 1am.
The Labour Party (LP), which had Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as its governorship
candidate, rejected the result.
Announcing the result at the Lagos headquarters of INEC in
the early hours of Monday, Oladiji Adenike, the returning officer for the
election, said Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to win the election.
The LP came second with 312,329 votes, while the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) trailed in third place with 62,449 votes.
