Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on manager Erik ten Hag when asked if the Dutchman can bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.
Manchester United have not won any trophy since 2017, but the early signs of Ten Hag’s reign at the club have certainly been promising.
Man United are currently in fourth position on the Premier League table.
The Red Devils are also in the Carabao Cup semi-final stage, FA Cup fourth round stage and Europa League last-16 stage this season.
Asked if he believes Ten Hag can bring the glory days back to Old Trafford, Ferdinand, who will analyse Man United’s Premier League derby with Man City for BT Sport on Saturday, said: “It is too early to say, we’ve been here with previous managers when it looks like we’re on to something.
“We have got to be patient and give the man time, but I do think all the signs are very positive at the moment.
“He has come in and seen what is happening, he has worked the temperature, assessed how things are, how the land lies, looked at individuals, looked at the shape of the team.”
He added, “But the fact that he’s now talking about qualifying for the Champions League so positively, he can sense confidence coming back into this team.”
