President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of
Mojisola Adeyeye as the director-general of the National Agency for Food and
Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The agency disclosed the development via its social media
pages on Friday.
“Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye has been reappointed as
the Director-General of NAFDAC for the second and final tenure of five years.
She stopped by briefly at the corporate headquarters in Abuja to meet with some
Directors and staff,” the post reads.
The development comes weeks after speculations over whether she would be reappointed, considering that Adeyeye’s first five-year tenure ended in November 2022.
On November 25, NAFDAC, in a public notice, announced the
expiration of Adeyeye’s tenure as DG, saying it had appointed Monica Eimunjeze
as the acting director-general of the agency.
“The Management of NAFDAC wishes to inform all stakeholders
and the general public about the expiration of the tenure of office of her
Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye,” NAFDAC had said.
“Consequently, the Federal Government has appointed the
Agency’s Director of Drug Registration and Regulatory Affairs, Dr. Monica
Hemben Eimunjeze as Acting Director-General with effect from 12th November,
2022.”
