Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olowookere is thrilled to see
his team end their campaign at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on a
winning note.
The Nigerian girls claimed bronze medal in the competition
after beating Germany 3-2 on penalties in the third-place match on Sunday.
It was the team’s best ever finish in the history of the
competition.
The Flamingos led 3-0 at a point in the game but the Germans
rallied back to take the game into penalty shootout.
“Victory made it a joyous Sunday for Nigeria,” Olowookere
told the thenff.com.
“I am a very happy man that we did not leave India
empty-handed. It has been a great tournament with a lot of lessons learnt. We
give God the glory.”
