The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives
Party (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made a surprise appearance at the
Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the 3rd Ministerial
Retreat is taking place.
He seized the opportunity to assure the participants that he
will work to further the progressive objectives of the ruling party.
The ministerial retreat is organised to review performance
of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, especially to benchmark it against the
promises made by the administration in 2015 and 2019.
On the first day of the retreat, Buhari said he had met the
yearnings of Nigerians, particularly on infrastructures and economic
empowerment.
Meanwhile, Tinubu while speaking on how he would further
progressive ideas of the party, said he would strengthen national unity and a
sense of national purpose.
He also observed that these objectives had charactised the
works of the Buhari administration.
He insisted that a Tinubu government would be devoted to
providing the best of progressive governance, with the focus on further projecting
and prospering the Nigerian people.
Tinubu, who pointed out that President Buhari’s
administration had done much to keep faith with Nigerians, as well as giving
life to the party’s promises to Nigerians and their objectives, however, noted
that various unpleasant circumstances, both local and international, militated
against its efforts.
