Major General Koko Isoni, the Commander of Sector 2 Operation Hadin Kai in Yobe State, has warned officers and soldiers under the Sector to remain apolitical and professional in the conduct of their constitutional duties.
The Commander gave the warning on Saturday at the medal presentation parade held at August 27th Stadium Damaturu, Yobe State.
“As we are approaching a season of heightened political activities and build up to another general election in 2023, we as soldiers must leave politics to politicians.
“Ours is to defend democracy as enshrined in the constitution and not be involved in partisan politics,” he said.
Explaining the essence of the event, Maj. Gen. Isoni said the medal parade is an age-long tradition of recognizing, appreciating, honouring, and documenting the services and efforts of all deserving personnel.
“The medal presentation is also one of the ways the Nigerian Army shows love and support to its personnel who sacrificed their lives and freedom to the fatherland.
“The medal presentation parade further serves as a morale booster to the officers and soldiers of Sector 2 Operation Hadin Kai in accomplishing assigned missions to their fatherland and contribute towards the attainment of the Chief of Army Staff’s vision, which is: ‘To have a precessional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned missions within a joint environment in the defence of Nigeria,'” he added.
According to the Commander, as members of the armed forces, troops under the Sector will remain focused, disciplined, and loyal to the constitutional authority “while ensuring that we professionally defeat all the adversaries”.
Governor Mai Mala Buni said the presence of the Nigerian Army personnel within the State has tremendously contributed to the return of peace and revival of socio-economic activities across the state and the North East region.
The governor assured that the Government of Yobe State would continue to cooperate with the Sector 2 Operation Hadin Kai for the full return of peace in the collective quest for a more united, stronger, and prosperous country in which all citizens, regardless of their differences would be proud to live in and identify with.
