The President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, said that his
regime had done very well in addressing security and infrastructure.
The President spoke during the stakeholders’ meeting held at
the Imo State Government House in Owerri, the state capital, after inaugurating
the Owerri-Orlu Road, the phase one of the Owerri-Okigwe Road, and the State
House of Assembly complex rebuilt by the administration of the state governor,
Hope Uzodimma.
He said that Uzodimma’s government was able to achieve much
despite the scarce resources at its disposal.
He extolled his regime for dislodging Boko Haram terrorists
in the North-East and tackling infrastructural decay which he said he inherited
from the Peoples Movement Party administration in 2015.
He commended Uzodinma for inviting him for a second time in
a year to inaugurate projects executed by his administration.
The President said that the Federal Government would
continue to support the Imo State Government and other states of the federation
to deliver the dividends of democracy to their people respective of political
party affiliation.
Buhari said, “My administration is addressing infrastructure
and security in Nigeria when compared with what we used to have from 1999 till
2015 when we took over.”
On Uzodimma, Buhari said, “Governor Uzodimma is doing well
in Imo State. He is doing well with
limited resources. The roads which I have just inaugurated will stimulate local
economy in the state.
“I commend Governor Uzodinma for rebuilding the House of
Assembly Complex. The Federal Government
will continue to support the Imo State Government. This support is also
available to other states of Federation irrespective of political party
affiliation.”
In his address, Uzodinma said that the roads Buhari
inaugurated were abandoned by previous administrations for decades.
The governor, who said that his administration had
constructed 105 roads in less than three years of his administration, averred
that the economy of the state would be boosted.
He said that his administration had done so much with scare
resources despite “insecurity and social media blackmails which are politically
contrived.”
The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George
Obiozor said that insecurity and infrastructural decay were the two major things
affecting the South-East region.
He, however, appealed to the FG to address insecurity and
infrastructure in the region, adding that the governor was doing well.
