IPAC calls on Ayade to rejig cabinet

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River State has called on Governor Ben Ayade to reconstitute his cabinet immediately.

IPAC also urged the governor to make deliberate efforts to enlist technocrats with proven track records to man strategic ministries.

The umbrella body of all political parties in the State made the call in a statement, signed by its State Chairman, Tony Bissong, and released at the end of their general meeting, Tuesday night.

The statement stressed that the lacuna created by the sack and resignation of some commissioners in key Ministries like Finance, Health, Water Resources and Information had left a conspicuous administrative gap that needed to be urgently filled.

It would be recalled that last year May 20 when the governor defected to the ruling party, APC, some of his commissioners and officials resigned from his cabinet.

Others recently resigned, too, to pursue political ambition.

The association also called on the State House of Assembly to speed up implementation of government policies.

“We demand the Cross River State House of Assembly to intensify their oversight functions in order to check redundancy in Ministries, Departments and Agencies,” he said.
