Aston Villa legend, Gabriel Agbonlahor has insisted he would pick Marko Arnautovic over Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.
He said Manchester United fans must accept their new reality.
Doom and gloom already surround Old Trafford amid an underwhelming summer transfer window and a 2-1 defeat to Brighton on the opening day of the Premier League season.
Despite the arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag, many believe the Red Devils do not have a squad capable of mixing it with the best teams in England.
A recent bid to sign Marko Arnautovic was dropped after backlash from disappointed supporters – and Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor has a problem with that attitude.
The former striker has also taken aim at marquee signing Sancho, who has three league goals since joining in a £67 million deal last year and tells United fans that marquee signings might be a thing of the past.
Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “I don’t know who Man United fans think they are. Arnautovic makes that squad a better squad.
“They’ve got to stop living in the Fergie years. Man United, now, are a club that can’t attract top players.
“There’s talk about looking to the future with younger players. They’ve done that with Sancho and he can’t take anyone on.
“He gets the ball, he passes it back to Dalot, he hides, he doesn’t get past people.
“Look at the wingers they’ve had in the past. Valencia – he used to go past people and put crosses in. Even Nani was outstanding. Sancho doesn’t do that.
“I’d rather Arnautovic in my team than Jadon Sancho at the moment.”
