The Police in Ovwian/Aladja Division in Udu Local Government
Area of Delta State in collaboration with some human rights activists have
rescued a physically abused young boy.
The mother of the victim, Naomi Esther Batubum who allegedly
beat and inflicted bodily injuries on him was also arrested.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 22 at Otor-Udu in the
Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The victim has been hospitalized.
The suspect had allegedly tied up her son to an electric
pole, beat him up with iron and cutlass and laced the injuries she inflicted on
him with pepper.
The Secretary of the Committee for the Defence of Human
Rights, CDHR, Israel Joe disclosed this in a statement.
According to him, “Today being 22nd of July, a report from a
Facebook follower got to our very comrade Israel Joe on how a woman in Otor-Udu
tied up her son on an electric poll, beat him up with iron and cutlass and rub
the child with pepper all over all the injury she inflicted on him.
“The Comrade immediately called the Ovwian/Aladja DPO CSP
Shaba who then detailed a truck of Policemen along with few comrades, got the
woman named Naomi Esther Batubum arrested and the child was rescued.
“The culprit is now detained at the police station while the
child has been taken to the hospital. Thanks to all social media followers who
kept drawing our attention to such issues.”
