WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons seek quarter-final ticket against Burundi

Title holders, Super Falcons of Nigeria will look to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations when they take on Burundi at the Stade Prince Moulay El Hassan, Rabat on Sunday.

Randy Waldrum’s side started the competition on a negative note going down to a 2-1 defeat against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

The Super Falcons, however, bounced back, edging out the Mares of Botswana 2-0 on Thursday.

Burundi lost their opening two games against South Africa and Botswana.

A win today against the Swallows of Burundi will see them progress into the next round.

“We know what the Women Africa Cup means to Nigerians and we remain fully focused despite the opening-day setback,” head coach Randy Waldrum stated

“We are determined not only to win a ticket to the FIFA World Cup but also to retain the trophy that Nigeria has won nine times previously,” he added.

The game will kick off at 8pm Nigeria time.
