The Federal Government on Thursday said the Joint Admission
and Matriculation Board, JAMB, used the National Identification Number, NIN, to
tackle examination malpractice.
Malam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education, said JAMB
succeeded in using NIN to reduce examination malpractice during the 2022
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
Adamu disclosed this during the 2022 policy meeting on
admissions to tertiary institutions in Nigeria, held in Abuja.
According to Adamu, “The introduction of the mandatory
National Identification Number (NIN) for JAMB registration has yielded
humongous positive impact as a potent instrument in the fight against
examination malpractices.
“The 2022 UTME was the best, so far, as there were minimal
cases of examination malpractices owing to the collaboration and other
technological interventions deployed by JAMB.
“The Ministry would continue to provide leadership support
and encouragement to JAMB pursuant to its official mandates. I hereby urge
other examination bodies to emulate JAMB in all these positive directions.”
