The spokesman of the Northern Elders’ Forum, NEF, Hakeem
Baba-Ahmed, has reacted to the impeachment move against President Muhammadu
Buhari.
Baba-Ahmed said Nigerians were waiting to see if the
Senators would pull through with their threat to impeach Buhari.
Recall that opposition Senators had given Buhari six weeks
to resolve the issue of insecurity in the country.
Senators across party lines, on Wednesday, stormed out of
plenary, calling for the impeachment of Buhari, as well as the Senate President,
Dr. Ahmad Lawan over the increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria,
The Senators, led by the Minority Leader, Philip Tanimu
Aduda stormed out of the chamber chanting “All we are saying, Buhari must go”,
“Nigeria must survive”, “Ahmad Lawan should follow”.
Reacting, the NEF spokesman recalled how he asked those
around Buhari to advise him to resign over the state of the country.
In a tweet, Baba-Ahmed wrote: “My Opinion. Yesterday I
suggested that President Buhari should be advised to resign.
“Today, Senators gave him 6 weeks to fix security or they
impeach him. We will wait.
“Either for a miracle, or the redemption or total
capitulation of the Legislature. We’ll wait, if we survive killers.”
