Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has said the government in the state would establish Local Government Emergency Management Committees (LGEMC) for the 17 council areas for early response to disaster.
The governor through his Spokesman, Mamman Mohammed stated this when he paid a working visit to the headquarters of the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), saying the LGEMCs are to provide first support to victims of disaster at the grassroots before support comes from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
Governor Buni noted that the Committees would be adequately equipped to function efficiently. “These Committees would serve as first aid to victims of disaster across the state”.
Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), Mustapha Habib Ahmed commended the Yobe State government for the initiative, saying it will provide fast and efficient support to disaster victims.
