Deeper Christian Life Ministry has explained that the view of its General Overseer, Williams Kumuyi on the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket was neither a political statement nor an attack on any personality as misrepresented by some sections of the media.
Kumuyi after a courtesy call on the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Wednesday, June 22 told newsmen that the Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket is a difficult and slippery area, therefore political office holders should look at the heartbeat of the country as well as desires of the people before taking such decisions.
The Deeper Life Church, in a statement made available to our correspondent in Uyo on Monday, stated that the General Overseer’s statement was a sincere admonition on the subject matter and desire for God’s guidance on the leadership of Nigeria and not to malign anyone.
The statement quoted the comments of Kumuyi to have said: “The Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket is a difficult and slippery area.
“So, what I will say is that the political office holders should look at the heartbeat of the country as well as the desires of the people.
“Politicians should know that they are not there for themselves. They are there for all of us. They should ask and make their researches about what the country wants.”
The statement added, “The pastor’s statement was not a political commentary aimed at attacking any personality in the country as wrongly portrayed and misrepresented by a section of the media.”
While urging members of the public to be wary of such misrepresentation, Pastor Kumuyi called on Nigerians to continue praying for the country and the manifestation of God’s will.
