Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has surpassed the goals record of former Nigerian international, Nwankwo Kanu, Daniel Amokachi and Austin Jay-Jay Okocha after scoring four goals in Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifier tie against Sao Tome and Principe on Monday.
Nigeria defeated Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 at the Stade Adrar Stadium.
Four goals from Osimhen, a brace from Terem Moffi and a strike each from Moses Simon, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ademola Lookman and Emmanuel Dennis ensured Jose Peseiro’s men defeated Sao Tome.
Osimhen’s four goals against Sao Tome was his 15th strike in 22 appearances for the Super Eagles.
The goal takes the Napoli star above Kanu (12 goals), Amokachi (13 goals) and Okocha’s 14 on Nigeria’s all-time goalscorer chart.
Osimhen is now just a goal behind Odion Ighalo (16).
The Napoli star is still miles away from catching the late Rashidi Yekini’s 37-goal haul for the Super Eagles.
