Former Governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki has picked Jigawa North West senatorial ticket for the 2023 general election.
Turaki, who was also a former Senator, won the ticket after withdrawal of the former Commissioner for Finance during Lamido’s administration, Nasiru Umar Roni.
It was reported that Saminu Turaki had recently decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Hussaini Namadi was also elected unopposed as candidate of the PDP for Jigawa Northeast senatorial zone.
He was the former member who represented Hadejia/Auto/Kafin Hausa Federal Constituency between 2011-2015.
For the Jigawa North Central, former member, House of Representatives, Hon. Mustapha Habeeb emmerged as consensus candidate.
The primary elections, conducted at the senatorial zones’ headquarters in Gumel, Dutse and Hadejia witnessed a large turnout of the party faithful.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of INEC officials, security agencies and representatives of the PDP National Headquarters.
