Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State has challenged the Ulama in the State to do more towards ending the insecurity ravaging the entire State and the country as a whole.
The Governor made the appeal while holding a crucial meeting with the Chief Imams of Jumma’at mosques from across the State at the Government House in Gusau, the State capital.
“I find it necessary to hold this meeting with you today in realisation of the fact that nothing passes the power of prayer. So, pray fervently for divine intervention.
“Zamfara State is in a critical situation where only fervent and genuine supplications to the Almighty Allah will alleviate our current situation.
“It is unfortunate that the State has degenerated to a situation we are in today,” he lamented.
The Governor noted that the kind of vices that were taking place in the State by hoodlums were very alarming and indeed called for sober reflection.
“I enjoin you to use this special month of Ramadan to supplicate to the Almighty for the alleviation of these vices,” he said.
In their various responses, the various Chief Imams present at the meeting commended the Governor for his efforts towards ending the security challenges in the State and promised to do more in their individual and collective capacities as religious leaders.
