Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky has told Russians,
who are protesting the ongoing war in Ukraine, that he is grateful to them.
The President said he was “grateful” to Russians who “are
not afraid to protest” and who “tell the truth” about Russia’s invasion of
Ukraine.
Hundreds of Russians have been arrested by the government of
President Vladimir Putin for taking to the streets to call for an end to the
ongoing hostilities in Ukraine.
And in a Telegram video uploaded on Tuesday morning,
Zelensky said, “I am grateful to those Russians who do not stop trying to
convey the truth.”
He hailed the Russians for resisting what he described as
disinformation and had decided to stand on the side of truth and tell real
facts to their friends and loved ones.
Zelensky further pointed to Maria Ovsyannikova, a Russian
Television, Russia Channel One employee, who interrupted a major broadcast by
holding an anti-war sign in prime time on Monday.
“NO WAR. Stop the war. Do not believe propaganda, they tell
you lies here,” the sign read.
