The Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has reacted to the sack of Governor Dave Umahi of Imo State by an Abuja Federal High Court.
Ohanaeze’s Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said the court’s ruling was “black market judgment.”
Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Abuja Federal High Court had sacked Umahi and his Deputy, Barr Kelechi Igwe for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Reacting to the ruling, Isiguzoro, in a statement to DAILY POST, said, “The sacking of the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, Deputy Governor, Barr Kelechi Igwe, and members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly by a federal High Court led by Justice Inyang Ekwo, is a miscarriage of justice and a black market judgment, aimed at to create havoc and chaos in Ebony State and an attempt to take over the reins of power in State through the back door.
“We are alarmed at how misery and desperation could navigate some politicians to offer themselves as willing tools to enemies of Ndigbo, just to destabilize Ebonyi State and set the state on fire, this court judgment will not see the light of day.
“We call on the people of Ebonyi State to calm down and be law-abiding citizens as the state government will surely appeal the decision of the Abuja High Court.
“This is the beauty of democracy, certainly the court has decided what is not acceptable for Ndigbo, definitely it will be interesting to see how the judgment will go up to the Appeal and Supreme courts, and the jurisdiction of the court will also be queried”.
“We stand with the government and people of Ebonyi State, especially the chairman of the Southeast Governors forum and APC presidential hopeful, Engr Dave Umahi, Ndigbo will always protect one of the best Governors in Nigeria and urge him to be strong to stir the ship of the State in these turbulent moments and challenges.”
