Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that his team still has a big lead in the LaLiga despite losing the El Clasico battle against Barcelona on Sunday night.
Ancelotti watched as Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brace and a strike each from Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres.
The Los Blancos were humbled on home turf by Barcelona and Ancelotti believes his team still has an advantage in the league.
The result against Barcelona means Real Madrid are still on top of the LaLiga table with 66 points from 29 games, while Barcelona are in the third position with 54 points from 28 games.
“It is tough because it is a Clasico, for the fans when we play against Barca… it is a blow, we have lost a battle, we still have an advantage and we have to stay calm and get back our injured players.
“We were unrecognizable, everything went wrong, we have to forget that and move forward, we have a big lead [in La Liga]. I, the coach, am at fault,” he said.
