Colleagues of Nollywood actress, Kemi Afolabi, have turned
to the public to seek financial support to treat her illness.
Actresses Toyin Abraham and Mercy Aigbe took to Instagram to
solicit support for Afolabi, announcing that a Gofundme account had been opened
to support her treatment.
Recall that Afolabi had revealed in an interview with Chude
Jideonwo that she had been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease called lupus.
In the interview, she also revealed that due to the illness she had just five years to live.
Afolabi revealed that she spent N1.2 million on medications
weekly to manage the illness, adding that she had sold her cars, property, and
business to afford the treatment.
She added that she had received support from colleagues
including Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham and Mercy Aigbe.
Posting a video of the interview, Abraham called on her fans
to support Afolabi with their donations.
“Please fam if you
noticed I stopped doing this long ago but I have to do this for my friend,
sister and colleague. Kindly support us by clicking the link in my bio for the
GoFundMe or you can use the Nigeria account below.
