Bashir Ahmaad, an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari has responded to criticism following the attack on the Kaduna- Abuja train
Bashir and other members of the Buhari-led administration were dragged and criticised online after the news of the death of a female doctor, Chinelo and other passengers emerged online.
Chinelo was among the eight passengers who were confirmed dead on Tuesday after terrorists attacked the train.
Bashir, responding, urged Nigerians not to allow dislike for the present administration or him affect their love for Nigeria.
His tweet read, “To dislike me or the government I work for is a freedom of choice, which I understand and respect, but please don’t let the dislike affects the love you have for this country.
“Eight years ago we weren’t here, and a year + months we won’t be around, but Nigeria stays with us forever.”
Meanwhile, the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi blamed the government for failing to approve N3 billion worth of equipment to secure the lives of citizens on the train.
Amaechi while inspecting the site of the bombing of the rail line between the Katari and Rijana train station along the Kaduna-Abuja route said the transport ministry has done its best to secure equipment but has not gotten approval.
“For me, I am devastated and honestly, I don’t know what to tell Nigerians anymore.
“We’ve done all we need to do in the ministry of transport, we have forwarded them for approval but we have not gotten approval.
“What we need is a technology that lets you know that there are human activities or foreign activities on the track, that way, you can secure the locomotive and secure lives and I had warned earlier that it is important they get us this approval because human lives would be involved. Since that warning till today, we have had two incidents.”
