The President, Muhammadu Buhari, late Wednesday hosted the National Chairmanship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress to a dinner at his residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting comes after Tuesday night’s screening exercise by the Aminu Masari-led Screening Committee, which took place at the Katsina State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, yesternight at 10pm.
In attendance were all those aspiring for the National Chairmanship position. They include Niger-East lawmaker, Senator Sani Musa; a former governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura; a former governor of Benue State, George Akume; an ex-governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari; another former governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu; Saliu Mustapha and Mohammed Etsu.
The Chairmen Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, were also in attendance.
Although details of the closed-door meeting were undisclosed, our correspondent gathered that the meeting was part of moves to ensure a drama-free National Convention this Saturday.
