Bamise: Friends, sympathisers demand justice

Friends and sympathisers have declared a protest to hold on Tuesday, March 8, over Bamise Ayanwole’s murder.

The protest tagged ‘Justice for Bamise’ has been slated for this morning beginning from Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, Lagos.

An aspirant for the Lagos Central Senatorial District, Victoria Olubanke Oniru had, on Monday night, joined others to call for peaceful protest to demand justice for Bamise.

“Bamise must get the justice she truly deserves, her death must not be in vain,” Victoria posted, while sharing a flyer containing details of the peaceful protest.

In a chat with our correspondent, Victoria said, “Right now, I’m petrified.

“That young vibrant lady shouldn’t have died. Her instincts told her something was wrong.

“She made enough awareness and nothing was done. Our system failed her.

“I pray/hope she gets justice

“We have determined not to keep quiet on this one.”

It was earlier reported that the dead body of the 22-year-old lady who got missing after boarding a Lagos Bus Rapid Transit vehicle was reportedly found with some body parts missing on Monday.

This has sparked outrage on social media and in the general public.

“Bamise was my age mate. Now, she’s no more, because she entered a BRT, a government owned bus in Lagos.

“I’m sorry, Bamise. The country failed you. LAMATA must pay for this. Everyone involved must pay. She could have been anyone! #JusticeForBamise, ” one of the foremost EndSARS organizer, Rinu Oduala, tweeted on Monday night.

Other Twitter users have taken to the social media to trend #JusticeForBamise, condemn her murder and subsequently call on the government for justice.

The families of Bamise have also cried out for justice. In a video obtained by newsmen, the mother of the slain lady was seen screaming for justice. “Justice, justice, justice, BRT is no longer safe, we want justice!” She screamed in an emotional video.

According to the lead counsel for the family of the deceased, Ayo Ademiluyi, in a statement issued on Monday evening, stated that instructions have been fully given by the family of late Bamise on the case. The lawyer called for calm until a fuller statement is issued.
