Five aspirants have purchased forms for the All Progressives
Congress (APC) chairmanship Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead
of the party’s National Convention.
Prof. Al-Mustapha Ussiju, the party’s Director of
Organisation, the APC Caretaker Extra Ordinary Convention Planning Committee,
in a statement on Tuesday announced the sale of the forms.
The five aspirants who have purchased the forms for the
chairmanship position are Malam Saliu Mustapha, and a former Governor of
Nasarawa, Abdullahi Adamu.
Others are another former Governor of Nasarawa, Tanko
Al-Makura; and Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs,
George Akume.
A former Governor of Zamfara, Mr Abdulaziz Yari, from the
North-East, has also obtained the form despite the party’s leadership zoning
the position to the North-Central.
From the North East, a former Governor of Borno State, Sen.
Ali Modu Sheriff, is rumoured to be mulling acquiring chairmanship forms from
the party’s national secretariat to contest in the 26th March 2022 convention.
The convention is expected to witness about 4,000 delegates
from across the country where new national executives will be elected to manage
the party’s affairs.
