Former head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr,
turned down the chance to add Emmanuel Amuneke to his team of assistants.
Rohr instead brought in Salisu Yusuf, who had just served a
ban for alleged corruption and bribery.
Amuneke has been appointed as the head coach of the Super
Eagles this week and will work with Augustine Eguavoen
However, according to OwnGoalNigeria, the former Barcelona
winger could have come in earlier if Rohr agreed to the suggestion of the
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The NFF approached Rohr before the 2022 World Cup qualifying
series about Amuneke, but he rejected the idea.
Amuneke will however be in charge when Nigeria take on Ghana
in the playoffs for Qatar 2022.
