Falz, the rapper,
says the outcome of the 2023 general elections won’t matter so long as
Nigerians participate.
The singer, in a chat with HipTV, commented on what he
described as the renewed energy and increased awareness with which citizens are
approaching matters of politics, policies, and governance in the country.
He said the reduction in political apathy among citizens
would ensure leaders don’t get too comfortable.
“There’s an energy that’s growing and it’s very good to see. Everyone is aware now. Everyone wants to participate. And that’s what we need. Once everyone can participate, whoever is in power won’t get too comfortable,” Falz said.
“Always feeling like
they have the system figured out. Once everyone participates come 2023, the
game officially changes. It doesn’t matter what the actual results of these
elections are. What matters is that the game changes.”
On the recent successes the Nigerian music space has
recorded, Falz described Africa as making “historic” strides.
“African music is on the rise. It’s number one in the world.
I’m so happy to be born into this time. I’m so excited to be a part of this
movement. It’s historic. This right here will go down in history,” he added.
“People don’t even
understand what’s happening right now. It hasn’t even started.”
