Former Arsenal winger, Willian, has given reasons why he did
not hit the heights at the Gunners.
Willian joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer of 2020
but failed to recapture his previous stunning form at Stamford Bridge.
His contract at Arsenal was eventually terminated and he
left Emirates for the Brazilian side, Corinthians in 2021.
Willian had made more than 350 appearances for Chelsea and
helped the club win two Premier League titles, the Europa League, FA Cup and
EFL Cup.
Discussing his frustrating spell at Arsenal with FourFourTwo
magazine, the 33-year-old said things didn’t really go the way he planned at
Emirates because he was not happy during his time at the North London club.
Willian said: “Things didn’t really go the way we all
planned.
“I wasn’t happy there, and when you are not happy in a
place, it doesn’t matter how much you try – you are not going to be able to
deliver what people expect of you.
“We had a great project and believed that it would work out,
but it didn’t, and so I chose to leave and do what was best for me.”
