Actress Lala Akindoju has called out Lagos State Governor
Babajide Sanwo-Olu over his meeting with out-of-school girls on Friday.
Mr Sanwo-Olu on Thursday stopped his convoy to have a brief
talk with girls who were on an errand for a bean cake vendor during school
hours, at about 11.00am.
Reacting to the viral video in a Twitter post on Friday,
Lala condemned the governor’s approach, querying why he did not relieve the
girls of the heavy loads they were carrying on their heads.
She asked the governor to rather create systems that will
proffer solutions to child labour and education.
She wrote: “I’m certain the media and strategy team of
Governor Sanwo-Olu wants him to be made fun of and disliked more than he
already is.
“Because what is this photoshoot with two random children
hawking and not in school? There is an issue with child labour and education.
Create systems to solve that!”
“Lasting structures and systems to solve the issues around
child labour, good, free education. The other day it was a salon and tonging
comb he was struggling with. Very what? Very good.”
“How do you think this makes him look good or intelligent
dear sir. It did not even occur to you all to relieve the kids of the weight of
the load on their heads- oh sorry- that will mean he really cares and won’t
work well for the pictures. A governor that is meant to create.”
