The Confederation of African Football, CAF Disciplinary
Board on Monday took disciplinary action against the Tunisia FA, their head
coach, Mondher Kbaier and goalkeeper, Farouk Ben Mustapha over misconduct.
CAF said Kbaier entered the field without the referee’s
permission, while Mustapha used vulgar language towards the referee.
This is coming less than 24 hours
after Tunisia eliminated the Super Eagles of Nigeria from the 2021 Africa Cup
of Nations (AFCON).
CAF also imposed a fine of 5,000 USD on the Algerian
Football Federation and a fine of 10,000 USD on the Ivorian Football Federation
for the invasion of the field by their supporters.
The continental football governing body disclosed this in a
statement on its website.
The statement read in part, “CAF Disciplinary Board decided
to: To issue a warning to Cameroonian Football Federation for the lack of
security during the said match and stern reminder to strictly comply with the
safety regulations.
“To impose a fine of 5,000 USD on the Algerian Football
Federation for the invasion of the pitch triggered by their supporters.
“To impose a fine of 10,000 USD on Ivorian Football
Federation for the invasion of the field by their supporters, of which 5,000 is
suspended provided that such an incident does not reoccur during the
tournament.
“Tunisia FA was charged after their coach Mondher Kbaier
entered the field without the referee’s permission. The DC also charged Tunisia
goalkeeper, Farouk Ben Mustapha with misconduct for using vulgar language
towards the referee.
“To impose a fine of 5,000 USD on coach Mondher Kbaier for
his behaviour
“To impose a fine of 5,000 USD on Farouk Ben Mustapha for
his regrettable behaviour
“To issue a call to order to Tunisian Football Federation
regarding compliance with the principles of loyalty, integrity, sportsmanship
and ethics. “
