We’ve released Oromoni’s body to family for burial after autopsy -Police

The Lagos state police command says it has released the corpse of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, the 12-year-old student of Dowen College, to his family for burial.

Adekunle Ajisebutu, the command’s spokesman, disclosed this in a terse statement on Friday.

Ajisebutu said the student’s corpse was released to his family after an autopsy was conducted on him to ascertain the cause of his death.

He also said the results of the autopsy conducted have not been released.

“Sylvester Oromoni: autopsy done. Result is being awaited. Corpse released to family for burial. Investigation ongoing,” he wrote.

Oromoni died a few weeks ago after he was allegedly attacked by “some senior colleagues” for refusing to join a cult group.

The student’s father had disclosed that his child was beaten and fed with liquid substance.

But the school had dismissed the claim, alleging that he only sustained injuries while playing football with his colleagues.

The Lagos state government thereafter ordered an indefinite closure of the school while launching an investigation into the incident.

Nigerians have continued to demand justice for the deceased on social media platforms.

The parents of the student had also employed the services of Femi Falana, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), as the lawyer for the case against Dowen College.
